Join us for a conversation with New York-based artist Robert Pruitt and professor Kathy Powers. Pruitt's practice spans drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and installation, and his work explores the intersection of race, identity, history, and culture. His work stands as a powerful commentary on the complexities of Black identity in America. By combining historical references with futuristic elements, he invites viewers to consider the past, present, and future of African American culture.
The artist’s work is in numerous public collections, including the Dallas Museum of Art; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Durham; the Portland Museum of Art; the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York; the Blanton Museum of Art, Austin; and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, among others.
