This nonpartisan, multi- and interdisciplinary panel discussion will feature UNM faculty who will explore the racial and gender politics of Vice President Harris's presidential candidacy from their respective areas of expertise: Dr. Gabriel Sánchez, Professor of Political Science and Executive Director of the UNM Center for Social Policy, Dr. Belinda Deneen Wallace, Associate Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature, and Dr. Vinay Harpalani, the Don L. and Mabel F. Dickason Endowed Chair in Law at the University of New Mexico School of Law and affiliate faculty of Africana Studies.
RSVP for an engaged dialogue about the different responses to Vice President Harris's identity circulating in the media and political discourse, and what these meanings tell us about United States history, politics, and culture in the current moment.
