Dr. Cortez Williams Scholarship

Named in memory of beloved Africana Studies faculty member and Vietnam veteran, Dr. Cortez Williams, this scholarship fund encourages and rewards academic excellence to undergraduate students majoring in Africana Studies. To donate, visit: Dr. Cortez Williams Scholarship.

Alfred D. Mathewson Scholarship

Established in 2001 in honor of Prof. Alfred D. Mathewson, Henry Weihofen Chair in Law and Director of UNM Africana Studies Program and the first African American to earn tenure at UNM, this scholarship is awarded to a student majoring or minoring in Africana Studies intending to pursue a career in education, especially as a public school teacher.
