Why Africana Studies?

I am in Africana Studies because I have always been interested in the educational, sociocultural, political, and literary conversations in Black communities. Here, I find a community of people interested in the same, and my research interests are a product of these conversations over time. I can now look at and understand these issues from a comparative global lens, thanks to my amazing colleagues and students.
