Africana Studies faculty honored with Teaching Awards

The Project for New Mexico Graduates of Color (PNMGC)  is a student based organization that is working to build community among historically underrepresented groups in the University of New Mexico.  Dr. Jamal Martin was awarded the Faculty of Color Lifetime Achievement Award from Project for New Mexico Graduates of Color on April, 2013 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. 

 Dr. Kathy Powers was awarded the 2012-2013 New Teacher of the Year Award by the Office of Support for Effective Teaching. The Teaching Awards Ceremony was held on May 2, 2013. 

Associate Dean Sonia Rankin and Prof. Marsha Hardeman were nominated for the UNM Lecturer of the Year Award for Race, Family, and the Law and Black Leaders in the United States, respectively.
